Being betrothed is easy, just so long as you keep as far apart from each other as possible.

Lisebette Blackwood is a girl from two worlds; she attends school in the modern west with self-driving cars and cellphones and returns home to her native home in the pastoral east where electricity is both dangerous and outlawed. But when bad luck strikes (yet again), she must find the fastest route back to her family in order to avoid disaster and under the circumstances, she’s more than willing to use Timothy Easton to get there. Side note; she and Timothy are betrothed. Further side note; neither one intends to keep that contract.

Timothy, however, has suddenly found himself embroiled in political intrigue and has problems of his own. Now, Lisebette must choose between coming to his aid or saving her family’s beloved estate.
