There is a surprising amount of opinions, theories and even studies on this subject. I love to read about this subject, especially from unexpected sources, because I’ve spent a lot of time trying to pin down the reason that stories seem so important to people. For me, its important to understand why I feel so driven to create stories and why that need doesn’t seem to diminish.
I wish I could give you the profound and final answer. After all my reading and pondering, I have come to understand that the reason we love stories is both complex and multi-faceted. But my favorite conclusion is simply this; a good book makes me happy.
