This is the quote I live by. I don't move fast when it comes to anything but walking. (That's where I get out my nervous energy). But if you can keep this phrase in mind, it will help you get where you're trying to go, whether it be writing a book or starting a business or getting healthy.

It's interesting. Most people attribute this quote to J.R.R. Tolkien, but if you try to find exactly where he said it, you'll be hard pressed to find the source. But that doesn't make it any less wise or true. Whoever said it knew that little steps are usually the best steps.

I've written many manuscripts and every last one of them takes time. I would love to sit down and pour out a well-written, satisfying story in 30 days but it doesn't work that way. But I find that when life is pulling me in different directions, if I just write a little, it still adds up surprisingly fast until suddenly, one day, I've finished. The only key is to keep moving, even if it feels slow.

Two girls taking a walk. Above them is the quote: "Little by Little, one travels far"
